Story dynamics

In Physics the term 'Dynamics' refers to forces acting on an object to change its speed and direction. Take the example of an archer shooting an arrow. There are four things to consider:

THE ARROW:

The object that is going somewhere.

TRAJECTORY:

The path along which it will travel.

THE TARGET:

The place where it wants to end up.

THE FORCES:

Gravity, wind, and conditions that the arrow has to overcome to reach its target.

Target Diagram

Again take the example of Red Riding Hood:

OBJECT:

Little girl.

TRAJECTORY:

From her home to her granny's home.

TARGET:

To deliver goodies to granny.

FORCES:

The wolf who intends to deceive her.

Another example is Sherlock Holmes:

OBJECT:

Detective.

TRAJECTORY:

Following clues of the case.

TARGET:

To catch the criminal.

FORCES:

The criminals skill in avoiding him and attacking him.
